bringing fitness back
I joined a gym! I wanted a gym with classes and fun stuff to do but ended up choosing Snap Fitness. It doesn’t have anything fancy but has some definite additions to the pro column. They are open 24 hours, cheap and they have what I need. My ultimate goal is to run the Philly Half Marathon in September, but I’m not starting to train yet. Right now, I’m focusing on getting back...

february update
I am a liar.  This month has been anything BUT ‘health month’.  I have completely lost my motivation.  Until today, that is! I was sick for a solid week so I didn’t do anything remotely healthy during those days.  I am also exhausted from work but I just need to get used to that.  The past few days have been gorgeous here.  It was 65 and sunny!  In February!  Today, it’s...

blogging 101
My brother and sister-in-law are creating blogs and they called me for help.  We’re currently on a conference call discussing what to do, how to get followers, and the correct vernacular for blogging.  I am enjoying this! This is my sister-in-law, Chelsie.  She’s being a goof in this picture.  It’s because we were drunk.  She is beautiful, hilarious, caring and very...

february
I’m thinking of declaring February “Health Month”.  I figure, it’s the shortest month, if I had to pick one, I’d pick the shortest one.  Plus, I’m going on a company retreat in March and I need to get into a little bit better shape. Now, what does “Health Month” entail?  I have no idea.  I refuse to count calories and deprive myself.  But,...

Your Nutritionista: The 20-Minute HIMYM Workout →
nutritionista: Okay, so thanks to my roommate, I’ve gotten a little bit addicted to the show How I Met Your Mother. She has all five seasons on DVD, and slowly but surely, I’ve been working my way through all of them. It’s the perfect thing to do when I have 20 minutes to kill (I may or may not be watching…

new year non-goals
2010 was a good year.  It started off a little rocky, but rounded out very well in the last few months.  I started 2010 with a lot of rules so that is my non-goal for 2011.  No crazy rules. Most of my rules were about dieting.  Calorie restricting.  Can’t eat fried food.  No soda.  No eating past 8 pm.  Come on!  What was I thinking??  I made it through 2010 with not a single french...

christmas loot
A new tradition in our household is to do alllll of our Christmas presents early.  We did them last night.  We have a busy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so it doesn’t bother me.  We just get too excited!  One of my fav new gifts that I’m about to use on my run is…..the new iPod Nano!  My Dad & Lori got me the pink one, of course.  Obvi the best choice.  Anyway, it does...

I'm alive!
Yes, I am still here.  I have been so busy the past few months with work.  Stressful, crazy but good busy.  It’s been a lot of fun.  I never ever thought I’d have a job like the one I have but I’m grateful that I have it.  I enjoy all of the cool responsibilities that I have now. So anywayyyy, we had Christmas last night with my brother’s family at my dad’s place....

growing pains
Yesterday, as I was waiting at the dentists office, the woman next to me was trying to explain that Star Wars wasn’t real to her son.  He was about….7?  I was cracking up at the things he was saying.   When asked if he ever saw a space ship in real life he responded “Yeah, all the time.  Up in the sky.” His mom replied with “You mean airplanes?” “I see...

friday night lights
New obsession: Friday Night Lights! (the TV series) Seriously, this show is amazing!  I’m not sure why it’s not a bigger hit?  I know it does pretty well but I think it should be a huuuuge deal.  You fall in love with the characters instantly.  It is so well written and produced and the story is just incredible.  I. AM. HOOKED. My favorite couple: Matt & Julie!  They are so...

my best friend
This is my best friend.  She lives in Texas which is awesome and awful at the same time.  It’s awful because Texas is FAR from Pittsburgh.  Wahh.  It’s awesome because I get to go visit! We’ve been friends since 2001 when we started cheering together.  Oh cheerleading…can you believe that was 9 years ago?  She really is my sister from another mister.  I know how lucky...

half marathon
I was talking to my cousin the other day and she mentioned how she ran the Philadelphia half marathon this past weekend.  It sounded really fun…so I told her I’d run it with her next year!  I’m super excited already…and a lil scared.  I’ve never done more than 6 miles without walking.  I can’t imagine doing 13 right now!  So the training will begin.  Any tips on...

favorite exercise
I LOVE Saturday mornings.  I get to sleep in, eat a good breakfast, drink my coffee, check my blogs, and then exercise.  Saturdays are great because I’m not rushed and I can get a good workout in.  Since I hurt my knee about 3 months ago, I’ve been taking it easy.  Recently, I’ve been able to run again (yay!) which makes me feel so much better.  This got me...

lost
Everybody is talking about the new fall shows starting up again.  It makes me miss LOST.  A lot.  I’m lost without LOST.  Luckily, season 6 just came out on DVD!  I would love another show as gripping as LOST, preferably with a cast that is just as sexy. Any ideas?  I’m already on the True Blood wagon, but that’s over for now too.  I also watch Weeds, The Big C, The Office,...

So…my cousin is getting married in San Francisco in October and I booked my flight/hotel last night.  I’ve never been to California and I can’t wait!  This got me thinking…I’ve been doing a lot of traveling in 2010. 1. Jacksonville & Orlando, Florida - to to see my mom and best friend since 1987 2. Atlanta, Georgia - a layover on my way to FL (it counts!) 3....

nutritionista: My girl Libby tweeted me this article from the National Center for Biotechnology Information. It’s a little bit science-y, but the conclusion is anything but ambiguous: Digesting whole foods burns more calories than digesting processed foods. Check out the conclusion (PF = processed food;… Win!

day 3
Today was much more fun!  We got to play with text and objects and do some really neat exercises.  Here is one: I know it doesn’t look like much but it has layers, gradients, masks, shading, and ellipses.  We used all kinds of cool tools to make this little sucker so I was kind of proud of it! We also learned how to make text look really neat.  Here is an exercise that makes the text...

vegetable of the day/day 2
I always get worried when I order “vegetable of the day” because it’s usually vegetable mush covered in butter.  Tonight, I ordered the vegetable of the day along with a baked potato (because I was starvingggg) and a salad.  It was amazing!  The green beans were steamed and perfect.  The salad had artichokes, olives, tomatoes, and feta.  Honestly, the potato wasn’t great...

day 1
I got to Chicago! Now I know why Kevin McCallister got left at Chicago O’Hare…that airport is ginormous! I got in my cab (which smelled just like a stereotypical cab) and got settled in at my hotel. I hit up the gym after that and now it’s time to chill and watch the Emmy’s and then True Blood! On the menu tonight: one of those tuna to-go packs with crackers & a...

chi town
Just booked my flight and hotel reservations for Chicago!  So excited.  And nervous. I’m really going to try and take pics of my whole trip but I don’t know how much cool stuff I’ll be doing.  Hopefully I’ll force myself to break out of my shell and go see the stuff you’re supposed to see.  I actually used to live in Chicago…well…in the suburbs.  And, I...

Guess who’s going to Chicago next week?  This girl!  I’m going all by myself for a whole week to learn some really cool stuff for work.  I’m excited!   I’m spending part of the week in the ‘burbs and the rest of the week downtown.  Any tips on what I should be doing while I’m out there?   PS I’m nervous about trying to hail a cab.  Is it as hard as it...

date night
I watched ‘Date Night’ yesterday with Tina Fey & Steve Carrell in an attempt to cure my hangover.  It was descent.  I enjoyed some parts of it.  I’m a big Tina Fey fan and she delivered several funny one-liners.  My favorite was when Tina was trying to get information off of a computer in a timely fashion and she got the dreaded rainbow wheel on a Mac and shouted,...

hangover remedies
I haven’t been this hungover in a looong time.  My go-to hangover fix used to be greasy food and soda but I gave up soda in January and I try to stay away from greasy food so I had to make some adjustments.  Instead of soda, I had cranberry juice + club soda and instead of greasy food, I had whole grain waffles.  Not exactly the same, but delicious nonetheless.   I’m exhausted....

Top 10 Things Today's Kids Will Never Experience →
ellobofilipino: Got this list from TIME.com. I don’t know if it applies to everyone though. But I think some of those listed are things I myself don’t anymore see much of these days. Camera Film - Gone are the days of hearing the film rewind into its casing, transporting it to a photo lab and patiently waiting to find out how amateurish your snapshots look.  Landline Phones - For most young...

Kat Von D Is Really Dating Jesse James
twism: Despite the fact that Kat Von D continuously denied that she has been getting a little too cozy with Jesse James, she tweeted that she is in fact dating him. What’s confusing is that Jesse reportedly told Sandra Bullock that he isn’t with Kat. You know what, I’m starting to get completely confused with every single thing that comes out of their mouth. I’m just going to pretend that...

Happy hump day!  Big things are happening around here on the work front and it’s so exciting.  I’ll be sure to share the deets soon!   I woke up today and decided it’s going to be a great day.  I got up early enough to get a descent workout in even though my knee is still bothering me.  I had a nice drive over to the office with minimal traffic and a killer playlist courtesy of...

This past weekend was my cousins wedding.  The whole family traveled to Maryland for a beautiful wedding on the Eastern Shore.  We actually had all of the cousins back together! My brother and I drove in on Friday and headed over to the grooms house for the rehearsal dinner AKA a crab feast!  The crabs were delicious.  It’s been a while since I cracked open one of those babies but I’m...
